Major Contribution to the Field

During my doctoral research, I have isolated and taxonomically characterized a novel bacterial strain from hexachlorocyclohexane contaminated soil which is deposited in international culture collections for public access. I have also reported the genome sequence of a moderately thermophilic strain Deinococcus sp. Strain RL isolated from a natural geothermal spring and the genome sequence is deposited in sequence databases for further use by the scientific community. I have also performed a community genome analysis of high-temperature (boiling) water of Manikaran geothermal springs and reconstructed a genome of genus Emticicia ecotype from metagenome data.

Your Teaching Goal in Next 5 years (150 words):

I would encourage students to be interactive in the classrooms by giving more emphasis on questioning and discussion rather than passively attending the lectures. I would ask students to think about new ideas. Students' answers and new ideas can develop strong and exciting conversation as well as leadership skills. I would ask students to give presentations on current scientific innovations and techniques in front of the class so that they would overcome their stage fright and improve communication skills. I am also looking forward to discover new learning techniques that can help the students to develop basic as well as advanced subject knowledge and interest. Even beyond the direct teaching and learning hours, their learning should be continued with the help of e-resources such as e-books, tutorials and videos.

Your Research Goal in Next 5 Years (150 words):

I am looking forward to carry on research with the techniques and skills which I have learnt during my doctoral work.
