About Department
Kolhan University, Chaibasa was established after the bifurcation from Ranchi University, Ranchi. H.R.D. Higher education and Government of Jharkhand approved the establishment of University of Department in the year 2009. Chemistry Department came Into existence in January 2011, with the special papers Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. The Department has six sanctioned posts for teachers and three sanctioned posts for non-teaching staff. The Department has also started the Ph.D.

Research
The Research interest of the faculty members covered a broad range of Chemistry
e.g. Co-ordination Chemistry, Organic Synthesis, Heterogeneous Chemistry, Pollution & Catalysis & Medicinal Chemistry. The Department has also established its seminar library.
